Ratatoskr spawns with a powerful acorn from the World Tree in his inventory. He can upgrade this acorn through the item store from anywhere on the map to strengthen himself and enhance his abilities.
Dart
Ratatoskr dashes in the target direction, dealing 70/100/130/160/190 (+40% of your Physical Power) damage to all enemies along the way. If Ratatoskr strikes an enemy god he has not struck with Dart in the last 10s, the cooldown is reset.
Flurry of Acorns
Ratatoskr spins, shooting 12 acorns out in a circle around Ratatoskr that freeze in air briefly then return to wherever Ratatoskr is currently, dealing 10/14/18/22/26 (+15% of your Physical Power) damage on the way out and the way back.
Acorn Blast
Ratatoskr shoots a blast of four acorns forward in a cone, each dealing 30/40/50/60/70 (+25% of your Physical Power) damage.
Through the Cosmos
Ratatoskr charges briefly then leaps from the ground to a branch above his head. He then jumps to a new branch twice more. On the third branch, Ratatoskr chooses a landing locating where he strikes down dealing 250/330/410/490/570 (+100% of your Physical Power) damage.
Rework - May 24, 2016
Passive: Acorn of Yggdrasil
Ratatoskr spawns with a powerful Magic Acorn from the World Tree in his inventory, replacing his item slot for boots. He can upgrade this acorn through the item store from anywhere on the map to increase his Power and Movement Speed.
The fully upgraded acorn adds self healing (20 + 40% of your Physical Power) to his abilities.
Dart
Ratatoskr dashes forward, damaging (100/140/180/220/260) to 80% of your Physical Power) and slowing enemies (20/25/30/35/40%) for 3s. Dart pierces through minions and stops at the first god hit.
Also, Dart's cooldown is reduced by 2s for each enemy god hit by Flurry or Acorn Blast. Cost: 50/55/60/65/70. Cooldown: 12s.
Flurry
Ratatoskr spins around in a flurry of attacks, damaging nearby enemies (25/40/55/70/85 + 20% of your Physical Power)
and reducing their Physical Protections (2/3/4/5/6%) up to 4 times. Cost: 60/65/70/75/80. Cooldown: 12s.
Acorn Blast
Ratatoskr shoots a blast of three acorns forward in a cone, each dealing (50/65/80/95/110 + 30% of your Physical Power) damage.
Enemies hit by more than one acorn will take additional damage and enemies hit by all 3 acorns are stunned for 1s. Cost: 60. Cooldown: 10s
Through The Cosmos
Ratatoskr charges up then leaps from the ground to a branch above his head.
He may jump to 2 more branches before choosing a landing location.
Upon landing he deals (200/260/320/380/440 + 70% of your Physical Power) damage and Knocks up enemies.
Through the Cosmos can be canceled or timed out from any of the branches, causing Ratatoskr to strike down at the current target location. Cost: 100. Cooldown: 90s.
Ratatoskr's rework is out and people are going nuts! The general consensus seems to be that he is strong but we are still seeing a lot of experimentation with different builds. We are targeting the most frequently purchased acorn (Bristlebush) and the winningest acorn (Evergreen), toning down his power while still leaving room for players to experience each acorn.
Acorn of Yggdrasil
Evergreen Acorn
Decreased Physical Power from 35 to 25.
Bristlebush Acorn
Decreased Dart bonus damage from 40% to 35%.
This affects both the base damage and scaling of Dart.
It’s time to go nuts! Even as Yggdrasil wavers it still lends strength to its messenger, Ratatoskr. His original Acorns provided unique benefits, drastically changing his playstyle game to game. While interesting he created unique balance problems that were not helped by variance in his initial kits power, but we knew this was something players wanted to see return.
Our goal for these Acorns is to augment and double down on strengths that exist in his current kit, allowing players to pick what they like to do while playing Ratatoskr and excel. This keeps his power and variance grounded and avoids some of the pitfalls from his initial design while still allowing for player expression. Enjoy using your ultimate to engage? The bonus health and healing from Evergreen Acorn will help you survive. Want to shred your opponents? Thickbark is a strong choice. And of course if you enjoy playing him like the Assassin he is we got you covered. Bristlebush lets you dive in and swing hard while Thistlethorn rounds out his ability damage (and don't forget a more reliable ranged stun!).
Ratatoskr is now also followed by the Acorn of his choosing, skinned based on what skin you have selected. This gives each Ratatoskr some extra flair and gives enemies in game visibility on how you are choosing to play. We are excited for you all to get a hand on these Acorns!

Thistlethorn Acorn (Builds from Nettle Acorn)
2050 Gold
+45 Physical Power
+20% Movement Speed
Passive : Acorn Blast now shoots 5 acorns. Enemies hit by Acorn Blast are marked to take 5% increased damage from Ratatoskr's Abilities, stacking up to 3 times for 5s.
Acorn Blast
Increased damage per acorn from 40/55/70/85/100 to 50/70/90/110/130.
Increased Physical Power scaling from 30% to 40%.
Enemies hit by multiple acorns take 25% less damage on each acorn, down to a minimum of 25% damage.
These changes overall should result in Ratatoskr dealing similar damage when hitting all 3 acorns.
Added a note that enemies need to be hit by 3 Acorns to be stunned rather than ‘all’. It is intended for Thistlethorn empowered Acorn Blast to stun if only 3 acorns hit.
Ratatoskr has been putting up a very strong showing lately, especially in the SPL. His ability to stay out in the jungle for the entire early game combines with his low cooldown semi-global ult to make him the absolute king of early pressure. His ultimate is being increased in cooldown at the early ranks to give Ratatoskr's opponents some breathing room. With the current cooldown he has very little counterplay,
and opposing junglers have very few options except hope that the Sly Messenger makes a mistake.
Increasing Through the Cosmos' cooldown should allow for a more fair back and forth between the junglers.
Through the Cosmos
Cooldown increased from 90s to 110/105/100/95/90s.
Ratatoskr is one of the few gods we are adjusting in anticipation of Season 5. Ratatoskr's global presence combined with his ability to upgrade his Acorn out of base allows him to exert a lot of pressure in Season 5. Rather than nerf these unique aspects of him, we targeted Dart's cooldown (which helps with his overall mobility) and increased the cost on Acorn Blast. Ratatoskr players will need to manage their mana more carefully.
Ratatoskr has struggled compared to other Assassins and Junglers. While his early game is pretty strong, he quickly falls off compared to other Assassins that fill similar engaging and diving roles. We are increasing Flurry's scaling to help him extend into the mid and late game, while giving the protection shred from Flurry an increase in strength. When he fully use this skill it will further empower his other abilities, while also helping the other members of his team to deal damage.
Flurry
Increased Physical Power scaling from 20% per tick to 25% per tick.
Increased Protection Shred from 2/2/3/3/4 per tick to 2/3/4/5/6 per tick.
Fixed an issue where the visual FX of this ability were continuing even when the ability was canceled or interrupted.
Ratatoskr has become a go-to Jungler for players in Season 4. His ability to buy his Acorn out of the base combined with the new decisions available to Junglers caused him to perform even better than in Season 3. We are making a few adjustments to his Abilities without hitting his Damage that should give players more opportunities to play against him.
Acorn of Yggdrasil is now more expensive at the second tier which will have an impact on early game Item build decisions.
Dart will now only be reduced by 1 second each time a god is hit with Flurry or Acorn Blast which will give enemy players more opportunities to catch this trickster, and Through the Cosmos now has a smaller landing radius requiring Ratatoskr players to be more accurate with where they want to land.
Acorn of Yggdrasil
Increased the cost of Acorn of Swiftness from 500 -> 700.
Acorn of Yggdrasil remains at 1600.
Dart
Decreased Cooldown Reduction from Flurry and Acorn Blast from 2s -> 1s per god hit.
Ratatoskr has been up to continued antics on the Battleground. Acorn Of Yggdrasil was providing Ratatoskr more healing that we wanted, while Dart was contributing a bit too much damage to his main damage combo.
Acorn of Yggdrasil
Decreased Physical Power Scaling of heal from 30% to 15%.
Dart
Decreased Damage from 80/120/160/200/240 to 70/105/140/175/210.
The Sly Messenger is receiving an additional adjustment around his passive. We are reducing his Heal to better position it as a light sustain tool rather than a semi-potent burst heal. Additionally we are fixing a hitbox issue with Acorn Blast that will impact his performance, notably making the Acorn Blast stun more difficult to confirm at middle to far ranges.
Acorn of Yggdrasil
Healing reduced from 20 to 15.
Scaling reduced from 40% to 30%.
Acorn Blast
Fixed an issue where the hitbox of the acorn projectiles were too large and not matching their visual FX.
Ratatoskr has had a fairly powerful release, so we are looking to take away some of his power throughout the game. In addition to his hotfix adjustment Dart is seeing a base damage decreased while Flurry is seeing adjustments in its cooldown and protection shred. We will continue to monitor the new Ratatoskr closely to ensure he is in a healthy balance spot.
Dart
Base damage reduced from 100/140/180/220/260 to 80/120/160/200/240.
Flurry
Cooldown increased from 12s to 14s.
Protection Debuff Reduced from 2/3/4/5/6 to 2/2/3/3/4.
Ratatoskr is meant to be a mobile menace. Unfortunately, his mobility made him too safe and frustrating to handle. Ratatoskr can now only Dart 3 times maximum, and his Ultimate will take longer to get Ratatoskr to safety. He should have some risk of engaging into the enemy team, and these changes should allow enemies the chance to capitalize on greedy plays.
Dart
Decreased distance traveled from 40 to 35.
Is now limited to only 2 resets of Dart within 10s, for a maximum of 3 dashes.
