The Inferno Cannon also fires in a 360 radius and auto targets gods while under the effects of Volcanic Overdrive. Cost - 100 mana. Cooldown - 90s.
Rework - 20 November 2013
Backfire
The backward dash movement on this device has been re-enabled. It will also now slide against angled walls and surfaces, rather than come to a complete stop. Note: The movement now acts like a traditional dash. He will no longer have invulnerability frames, or lose the point in Domination while moving.
Inferno Cannon
The tooltip now indicates that this turret takes 50% additional damage from non-god sources. The Inferno Cannon's current target will also now have a targeting beam drawn to them, similar to those of Towers
New #3 - Magma Bomb
Vulcan returned to the workshop and re-emerged with a new gadget. His Thumper XVI has been replaced with the Magma Bomb. The Magma Bomb is a ground target projectile that explodes on impact, damaging nearby enemies, dealing magical damage, and stunning and knocking back enemies within the explosion radius.
Volcanic Overdrive
The bonus protections have been removed and replaced with 30% damage reduction across all ranks. This ability now also grants CC immunity while active.
Rework - 18 December 2013
Vulcan has had an ability overhaul, and is now positioned as a Mage. His base stats have been adjusted accordingly. Vulcan's Basic attack is now ranged.
Heavy Shot (NEW: Passive)
After using any ability, Vulcan's next basic attack within 3s will slow an enemy 15% for 2s. Cannot be applied more than once every 5s.
Backfire (No Change)
Vulcan blasts a fireball out of his Forge, pushing him back and dealing 65/95/125/155/185 +70% of you magical power as damage to all enemies in its path, marking the first god that is hit. The Inferno Cannon prioritizes the marked target and deals 10% more damage to that god. Cooldown: 9/8/7/6/5. Cost: 40/45/50/55/60.
Inferno Cannon (No Change)
Vulcan constructs an Inferno Cannon that shoots fireballs in a cone that deal 45/70/95/120/145 +35% of you magical power in damage to the target every second. The Inferno Cannon lasts until destroyed or another is placed. This inherits Vulcan's penetrations but does not apply on-hit effects. Inferno Cannon takes 50% additional damage from non-god sources. A buff shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Well Vulcan is missing those limbs and there isn’t much we can do about that, but we can buff his Ultimate. This ability has insane long range snipe potential, but feels far too weak when used at closer ranges. We are increasing the floor on the damage curve to make this ability more useful in a wider range of situations.
Earthshaker
Increased Damage at close range from 60% to 75% of the max dmg
The smith of the gods is getting some much needed upgrades to his forging tools. Backfire will now go through walls, helping this god get more successful hits in the jungle. Also Inferno Cannon will gain a new feature that deals more damage to tanky gods. This ability has always paired well with lockdown but its lack of penetration really holds it back in these scenarios. Vulcan should now become a top pick for his ability to provide consistent follow up damage.
Backfire
Now goes through walls.
Inferno Cannon
Now Cannon deals damage as if the target had 25% less magical protections.
Vulcan has continued to struggle in Season 5 with the introduction of new items that don't impact hit pet Inferno Cannon. We are increasing the amount of damage Inferno Cannon can dish out, allowing it to perform more in line with Season 4 builds. Additionally, Backfire Cannon is getting a slight base damage increase. This low cooldown skill will now be better in early fights until Vulcan can get Magical Power online.
Backfire
Increased Base damage from 80/120/160/200/240 to 90/130/170/210/250.
Increased amount of damage that Inferno Cannon deals to marked targets from 10% to 15%.
Vulcan is one of the mages who was hit the hardest by the Rod of Tahuti re-design. He is most successful as a late-game extreme burst mage but he is now having a harder time bursting enemies down. His cannon pet cannot utilize a lot of the unique passives that mages are building into with the item slots opened up in Season 5. To bring his late game burst back up we are increasing the Magical Power Scaling on Magma Bomb.
After experimenting with a few different passives for Vulcan we found that the best feeling came from a passive that rewards what he does best, poke enemy gods. His new passive increases his mobility and provides positive feedback to players that prioritize damaging enemy gods.
New Passive – Master Craftsman
Whenever Vulcan successfully hits an enemy god with an ability he gains +20 MP5 and 15% Movement Speed for 5s.
Earthshaker is seeing some love this patch in terms of better usability. More damage when used close, and less travel time (thus more accuracy) when used far.
Damage Increased from 65/95/125/155/185 (+70% of your magical power) to 80/120/160/200/240 (+70% of your magical power). Cooldown changed from 9/8/7/6/5 to 7/6.5/6/5.5/5s.
Inferno Cannon
Health per rank changed from 100/150/200/250/300 to 220/300/380/460/540. Protections per rank changed from 5/10/15/20/25 to 5/15/25/35/45.
Magma Bomb
Damage scaling increased from 40% to 60% of Vulcan's Magical Power.
Earthshaker
Increased projectile speed for long range shots from 45 to 50. (Shot has the same minimum time of 1.5s, but the maximum time at full distance is reduced slightly). Increased magical scaling from 120% to 130%.
An issue has been fixed where this turret was only dealing damage to enemies within a cone. This will now deal damage in a 360 radius again, as intended.
This ability now marks the first god that is hit for 4 seconds, causing the Inferno Cannon to prioritize that target and giving the turrets 10% increased damage to that target.
