Poseidondds movement speed increases and his abilities do additional damage as his Tide level increases. Successful basic attack hits increase his Tide, and using abilities decreases it.
Tidal Surge
Poseidon summons forth a wave that travels in a line, dealing damage and pushing back all enemies in his patch. Damage: 80/120/160/200/240 (+70% of your magical power). Cost 70/80/90/100/110. Cooldown 12s. Tidal Meter: -35% Tide.
Trident
Poseidon activates his Trident, granting move speed and making his basic attacks fire 2 additional shots in a spread for 6s. The shots deal magical damage plus 20% of Poseidondds Magical Power. All shots increase Poseidondds Tide on successful hit. Base Damage per Hit: 30/4050/60/70. Movement Speed: 15/20/25/30/35%. Lifetime: 6s. Tidal Meter: -35% Tide. Cost 65/70/75/80/85. Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12s.
Whirlpool
Poseidon summons a whirlpool at his ground target location that cripples targets, preventing movement abilities, and pulls targets toward the center dealing magical damage every .5s for 3s. Reduces Poseidondds Tide by 30% when cast. Damage: 10/15/20/25/30 (+10% of your magical power). Tidal Meter: -30% Tide. Cost: 80/90/100/110/120. Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11s.
Release the Kraken
Poseidon releases the Kraken, damaging and slowing targets in its radius. Enemies in the center of the effect when it spawns take additional damage and are stunned and bounced into the air. Damage: 120/150/180/210/240 (+30% of your magical power). Damage (center): 180/220/260/300/340 (+60% of your magical power). Slow: 30%. Stun (Center): 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2s. Tidal Meter: -50% Tide. Cost: 100/110/120/130/140. Cooldown: 90s.
Poseidon is the final mage on this list receiving some mana adjustments. Tidal Surge and Whirlpool are significant mana drains once they are ranked up. We are reducing the top end giving Poseidon more freedom to cast his higher ranked abilities.
Tidal Surge
Decreased Mana Cost from 60/70/80/90/100 to 60/65/70/75/80.
Whirlpool
Decreased Mana Cost from 60/70/80/90/100 to 60/65/70/75/80.
Poseidon is getting a nice quality of life buff. Tidal Surge’s hitbox was much shorter in height that the visuals would portray, causing it to go under many gods knockups including his own from Release the Kraken. Tidal Surge has been adjusted to better reflect its height and Release the Kraken's knockup height has been normalized at all ranks, making it feel more consistent in all cases.
Tidal Surge
Fixed an issue with Tidal Surge's moving deployable which caused its collision height to be shorter than intended.
Release the Kraken
Normalized the knock-up height of this ability from 300/325/350/375/400 to 375 at all ranks.
Poseidon should now be able to hit an enemy knocked up by Release the Kraken with Tidal Surge.
Managing Tide is an important aspect for Poseidon, but some abilities had such high costs that they became prohibitive to play around. We are reducing the overall Tide cost of Tidal Surge and Release the Kraken. These two adjustments will give Poseidon players a better handle on their Tide resource and increase his damage during extended engagements.
Poseidon and his Kraken are getting some consistency improvements that should help him out. Through this season he has been largely pushed out by other mages and he has suffered as a result. In patches past we reduced his movement speed heavily to help players deal with his rotation potential, and that largely hurt his ability to be a strong pick for a team.
Our first buff is giving him ‘some’ of that Movement Speed back on Trident. Players will need to spend the cooldown and mana to increase their movement around the map, but if they want to rotate, engage, or escape he will have the speed to help him. The second buff is to increase his consistency in a team fight. Release the Kraken can be a powerful burst tool, but the difference between getting someone in the center vs. just the outside radius was large making this ability highly variable in how it helped your team. We are evening the damage between the inner ring and center radius, keeping the burst damage the same but helping it deal more AoE damage to the enemy team.
Trident
Increased Movement Speed 5/10/15/20/25% to 10/15/20/25/30%.
Release the Kraken!
Can now be cast inside player made deployables (such as Thor's Tectonic Rift).
Increased outer ring Damage from 170/195/220/245/270 (+30% of your magical power) to 175/210/245/280/315 (+45% of your magical power)
Decreased center area Damage from 180/220/260/300/340 (60% of your magical power) to 175/210/245/280/315 (+45% of your magical power)
Total Damage increased from 350/415/480/545/610 to 350/420/490/560/630.
Damage is now split evenly between the center area and the outer ring, meaning the center target is still hit for both areas damage but players hit by the outer area will receive more damage than in 4.19.
One of Poseidon's strengths is his ability to move quickly around the map, affecting team fights or rotations heavily and a 5% increase in Tide's Movement Speed will further highlight this strength. Additionally, we made an adjustment to Trident which will allow players to begin firing Basic Attacks immediately after activation without needing to wait for the animation to finish, allowing him to be more reactive when using this ability.
Changing Tides
Increased Movement Speed bonus from 10% -> 15%.
Trident
Reduced the pre-fire on this ability so players can immediately fire a basic attack without waiting for Trident's animation to finish.
Poseidon is a character that often wants to maintain high levels of his Tide to be mobile and effective around the map. By reducing both the Tidal Meter and Mana cost of Tidal Surge and Whirlpool, Poseidon players will find themselves often in a slightly better position at key points in the game.
Tidal Surge
Reduce Mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 to 60/70/80/90/100.
Reduced Tidal Meter Cost from 35% to 30%.
Whirlpool
Reduce Mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 to 60/70/80/90/100.
