Fafnir gains 4 bonus gold from all minions, structures, kills and assists. Fafnir also gains bonus Protections based on the amount of gold he is currently holding.
Curse Strength
Fafnir hurls his hammer forward, dealing damage (100/140/180/220/260 +50% of your Magical Power) to enemies in its path. If Fafnir hits a god the hammer stops short and Stuns them for 1s. The Stunned god also radiates out a cursed pulse, Slowing (20/25/30/35/40%) them and nearby enemies for 3s. Cost: 60/65/70/75/80. Cooldown: 15s.
In dragon form, this ability deals increased damage (50/70/90/110/130 +25% of your Magical Power) that ticks every second for 3s. Also, the cursed pulse shreds Protections (20/25/30/35/40%) in addition to Slowing.
Coerce
Fafnir coerces his allies into fighting harder, boosting Attack Speed (10/20/30/40/50%) for 5s and healing himself (50/80/110/140/170 +40% of your Magical Power). While Coerce is active Fafnir does additional bonus Magic Damage (5/10/15/20/25% of the target's power.) whenever the affected ally damages an enemy. Cost: 50s. Cooldown: 13s.
In dragon form, This ability has a larger area of effect and can buff multiple allies.
Underhanded Tactics
Fafnir leaps to a target location and executes a despicable strike, dealing damage (80/120/160/200/240 + 60% of your Magical Power) and disarming enemies in front of him for 2s. Cost: 70s. Cooldown: 18s.
In dragon form, Fafnir can leap much further. Also, this ability deals increased damage (40/60/80/100/120 + 30% of your Magical Power) that ticks every second for 3s and Fafnir Stuns the enemy closest to him for 2s in addition to Disarming.
Dragonic Corruption
Fafnir transforms into a terrifying dragon and is untargetable during the process. When he emerges in dragon form, nearby enemies are poisoned, taking damage (80/100/120/140/160 + 40% of your Magical Power) every second for 3s. He remains in this form for a duration or until the ability is activated again. As a dragon, his abilities have additional effects and his basic attack changes to a Dragon Breath that deals damage (10/15/20/25/30 + 10% of your Magical Power) 3 times per second.
Dragon Breath can not proc item hit effects. Cost: 100. Cooldown: 90s.
It's time to get greedy again! Although Fafnir makes appearances at the SPL level from time to time, he is rather unsuccessful in most applications. Fafnir's passive is being buffed to ensure he feels the power from his early game gold hoarding. We are also adding a large mana heal to his ultimate. In order to get the most out of his Dragon form, Fafnir must fire many abilities after transforming. Now he will have better capacity to do this.
Endless Greed
Increased Maximum Bonus Protections from 20 to 25.
Note that This passive was nerfed at some point in the past, but we could not find any proper documentation for this change. While initially released at 30 it was adjusted to 20 sometime after. We apologize for the lack of communication on this.
In his greed, Fafnir has found himself in a top spot. High level teams looking to secure the gold furies and other objective heavily value Coerce. At all other levels of player he struggles both in popularity and performance. Cursed Strength is his primary setup ability and it isn't an easy one. Shifting these strengths should help him see more regular success without harming his core identity as an offensive Guardian with strong objective control.
Cursed Strength
Increased width of this ability from 6 to 7.
Coerce
Decreased Attack Speed Buff from 15/20/25/30/35% 10/15/20/25/30%.
Decreased Bonus Damage from 5/10/15/20/25% to 4/8/12/16/20%.
Fafnir continues to struggle in Season 6. This god has high potential to dominate the pro league, as we have seen in the past, so we take a careful approach toward buffing him.
Fafnir has a lot of utility and lockdown, but he struggles heavily in the early laning phase. Over the years he was nerfed multiple times, and now we plan to revert one of those nerfs.
With Fafnir's overall utility being much lower than at launch time, his base damage on his primary clear ability can be raised back to its original intended amount.
Cursed Strength
Increased Base Damage from 80/125/170/215/260 to 100/140/180/220/260.
The dwarf turned dragon will be even more terrifying in his dragon form in 6.1. Fafnir has strong evasion and lockdown, yet is still suffering in the meta.
Fafnir is a god designed around big plays during his ultimate, so we will take this opportunity to make that feel even more impactful. His Dragon Breath basic attack will deal more damage, especially at later stages in the game, giving this aggressive Guardian's team more kill potential.
Draconic Corruption
Increased Dragon Breath from 20/25/30/35/40 to 20/30/40/50/60.
This grumpy dwarf is getting a few small buffs to help him play more smoothly. Fafnir's ultimate requires him to use all of his abilities to get the most out of the ability, which can cause big mana problems for him. We are decreasing the mana cost of two of his abilities to mitigate this. He also had slightly lower base HP5 than the rest of the guardian pool so that is being brought up to a more normal level.
We are partially reverting a previous adjustment to Fafnir. In 5.1 we adjusted the amount of control he brought to the table, while leaving his ability to survive intact. From the pro feedback we received, it did not have the desired impact. The control nerf made him difficult to use in the early and mid game, while his survivability late was still an issue. We are bringing back some of the control from Cursed Strength as he ranks the ability up while reducing the healing Fafnir receives, especially in the later stages of the game.
[ Cursed Strength
Increased stun from 1s to 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4s.
Coerce
Decreased Self Healing from 50/75/100/125/150 to 50/70/90/110/130.
Decreased Self Healing Scaling from 40% to 30% of your magical power.
Fafnir has proven himself to be a strong Guardian through multiple aspects. He can stim his team mates, he has multiple evasive abilities, and he can also lockdown enemies. Lockdown is often frustrating and happens to be a part of Fafnir's kit that is more scalable without making core design changes. Cursed Strength in both Dwarf and Dragon form are having their Stun duration reduced by .5, lowering the amount of time Fafnir can lock down a single player.
Cursed Strength
Decreased Stun Duration from 1.5s to 1s in both Dwarf and Dragon form.
Cursed Strength is Fafnir's golden ticket Ability, giving him strong Crowd Control, a powerful Slow and Protection Shred in Dragon-form.
We are reducing the Slow from a maximum of 40% to 20% at all ranks. This should lessen his ability to control the enemy team during the later stages of the game, instead relying on his other late game team-oriented tools like Coerce to get the job done.
Cursed Strength
Changed Slow from 20/25/30/35/40% -> 20% at all ranks.
Fafnir has certainly grown into his role as a Guardian since his release. As we have seen more and more of what he is capable of, a few things stand out as being a bit too potent. Endless Greed was often providing too much gold and protections making Fafnir more difficult to defeat than most other Guardians. Additionally, Coerce is too powerful of an ability for objective clear, teamfight damage, and self healing for its cooldown time.
By reducing the effectiveness of Endless Greed and Coerce, we expect Fafnir to be in a more reasonable spot.
Fixed an issue where Fafnir's passive glow would persist after death.
Fafnir has excelled as a Guardian who can provide a lot of utility to his team through abilities like Cursed Strength and Coerce. We like this about him but felt that Cursed Strength was over performing at its job of shredding through tankier enemies.
Cursed Strength
Decreased Dragon Protection Debuff from 20/25/30/35/40% -> 20% at all ranks.
Fafnir was slightly underpowered launch, and will be getting some buffs to improve his abilities. Cursed Strength is designed to be a high risk high reward skill shot, so the Stun duration is being increased to make this worth the effort. Additionally, Dragon Breath is receiving a damage increase to make it more intimidating and help Fafnir confirm kills. Also, all of Fafnir's DoTs in Dragon Form have had their timing changed to apply damage on the initial hit for better readability.
Cursed Strength
Stun increased from 1s to 1.5s at all ranks.
Damage over Time in Dragon Form now deals damage at 0s, 1.5s, and 3s, instead of 1s, 2s, 3s.
Underhanded Tactics
Damage over Time in Dragon Form now deals damage at 0s, 1.5s, and 3s, instead of 1s, 2s, 3s.
Dragonic Corruption
Damage over Time from dragon transformation now deals damage at 0s, 1.5s, and 3s, instead of 1s, 2s, 3s.
Dragon Breath: Increased Damage from 10/15/20/25/30 to 20/25/30/35/40.
