Cernunnos wields a glaive as a weapon. His Basic Attacks deal additional damage to all enemies in melee range while he is throwing it.
Shifter of Seasons
Cernunnos imbues his glaive with the power of the 4 seasons. Activating this ability rotates him through 4 different bonuses to his Basic Attacks.
- Spring Growth: Bonus Physical Lifesteal
- Summer Heat: Bonus Damage
- Autumn Decay: Debuff for 5s
- Winter Chill: Slows for 1s
Bramble Blast
Cernunnos fires a thorn forward in a line that deals damage and roots a single enemy it hits.
When it hits an enemy, a wall, or reaches max range it explodes dealing damage and spawning an area of thorns at the location.
This area deals damage every .5s and slows enemies inside it persisting for 5s.
Horn Charge
Cernunnos charges forward, damaging and crashing through all types of enemies.
The Wild Hunt
Cernunnos selects an area where The Wild Hunt will begin. After a 1s casting time, enemies in the area will be damaged and polymorphed into wild boars.
Polymorphed targets are Silenced and Disarmed. Polymorph is not affected by diminishing returns.
The seasons have changed quite a few times since Cernunnos has been buffed. This god has maintained strong player perception while his win rate has fallen over the years. We are adding an interesting new feature to his Shifter of Seasons ability, where now Autumn stance will be able to debuff enemies magical protections as well as physical. This lets Cernunnos be even more of a team player without directly buffing his damage, and makes this stance more attractive to use.
Shifter of Seasons
Autumn now reduces Magical Protections in Additional to Physical.
Cernunnos has some unique strengths, but his lane clear tends to be described as feeling awkward and weak. Bramble Blast doesn't pack the punch that many other Hunter abilities do,
so it's being brought up in the early ranks to make sure he can go toe to toe with the rest of the meta. The Wild Hunt is also seeing a cooldown reduction,
allowing him to impact teamfights more often.
Bramble Blast
Increase base damage from 40/80/120/160/200 to 60/95/130/165/200.
The release of Hera shined more light on the Polymorph effect. Turning players into other creatures effectively Silences and Disarms them, while allowing them to retain complete movement control.
The full speed movement of affected enemies was often cited as a weak point of Cernunnos' ultimate, but he had many powerful aspects of his kit to balance that out. After some balance changes he has fallen down in the meta,
allowing us to buff The Wild Hunt while also making the Polymorph effect more consistent across the game.
Cernunnos has a similar story as Chiron. He launched at a very strong state and was nerfed in many ways. Bramble Blast originally had a lot more utility and CC attached to it, but the true design goal was to create an area of thorns that players would want to avoid. We are increasing the damage pick tick on the Bramble Area to help Cernunnos' early lane clear and to fulfill that design goal through damage, rather than through a slow.
Bramble Blast
Increased Base Damage per tick of Bramble area from 4/8/12/16/20 to 6/10/14/18/22.
Wild Hunt's Mana cost was quite large for a standard Hunters ultimate. We are bringing the cost to 100 for all ranks, allowing Cernunnos to gain flexibility with where he is spending his Mana.
The Wild Hunt
Decreased Mana cost from 100/110/120/130/140 to 100 at all ranks.
It's happening! Cernunnos is strong in many situations, but this should come with some drawback. Horn Charge is going to be riskier to use early against opponents due to its decreased Damage while late game Cernunnos will not be hitting as hard in Summer Heat. In addition to these adjustments, The Wild Hunt is also seeing a Cooldown increase. This is a powerful Crowd Control effect that does not suffer Diminishing Returns and should have a longer Cooldown to match.
Shifter of Seasons
Decreased Physical Power Scaling of Summer Heat from 10% -> 5%.
Horn Charge
Decreased Base Damage from 90/140/190/240/290 -> 70/125/180/235/290.
The damage dealt by Cernunnos over the course of a game was higher than his Hunter peers. Bramble Blast and Summer Heat are a large source of this damage. Bramble Blast is seeing a Cooldown increase, reducing how often this Ability can deal Damage or be used for control.
Summer Heat provided too much additional Damage as Cernunnos ramped up his item build. We have decreased the Physical Power scaling on Summer Heat to keep his late game more in check.
Shifter of Seasons
Decreased Physical Power Scaling on Summer Heat from 20% -> 10%.
Cernunnos and his team have had a blast hunting down all his polymorphed opponents. The size of the ultimate allowed him to cover a wide area and allowed for little counterplay for his opponents. We are reducing the radius of The Wild Hunt to make it a bit less wild for his enemies.
Cernunnos immediately sprung onto the Battleground and made an impact. Our goals with the following changes are to bring him more in line with other hunters, reduce frustrations when fighting against him, and keep Shifter of Seasons an impactful part of his kit.
The largest change is the removal of the Slow on Bramble Blast. Cernunnos was able to zone his enemies too effectively with this Ability, allowing him to remain safe and control the battle at the same time.
We are also reducing his Base Power to tone down his early game, while Spring Lifesteal is seeing a nerf to reduce his sustain during all stages of the game.
Reduced Base Power from 40 -> 37.
Shifter of Seasons
Reduced Spring Growth's Physical Lifesteal from 8/11/14/17/20% -> 5/7.5/10/12.5/15%.
