General

  • Ullr has performed gloriously lately, with skyrocketing popularity in high end ranked and competitive scenes. Ullr brings heavy pressure and quick rotations to a team, all while being able to play multiple roles. We are increasing Ullr's mana costs to slow down his ability to spam, and we are also decreasing the base damage on his primary lane clear ability.   • Ullr's ability to combo his Thrown Axe into the rest of his kit gives him strong early kill potential and allows him to bully opponents in lane. We are trimming a bit of power off Thrown Axe, while reducing the scaling of Hail of Arrows. While a stun combo will still hurt, it won't be as devastating as usual. Ullr players will need to focus more on their follow-up after the combo to keep the pressure applied.

  • When Ullr was initially buffed in Season 4 we brought a god who had been mostly unplayed to a much better position. We removed his clunkiness and allowed more players to perform with the God. There was a lot of discussion about the God at the end of Season 4 but his metrics never really reached a must nerf” scenario. With many more changes upcoming, we wanted to wait and see how successful he would be in the new Season before making any changes. We anticipated that he would drop naturally. When Season 5 launched we did see his performance clearly drop, but this was likely a result of the rise of Crit Hunters in the meta. Many other factors could have played a role in this so to confirm his power level we waited to see the results after the last round of changes that specifically adjusted Deathbringer. Ullr did indeed rise back up in his stats, suggesting that Season 5 did not nerf him naturally as much as we expected and solidifying the fact that he was in need of a nerf.
  • Ullr is still a difficult god to execute well, and sees much stronger numbers at high skill levels than in the general population. He just seemed to do too much damage which covered up this aspect in most cases. Bladed Arrow and Hail of Arrows are both seeing a 10% reduction in Physical Power Scaling. The burst provided from these two abilities was giving him so much pressure in lane. With these adjustments we expect him to fall more in line with other Hunters.

  • Ullr, Da Ji, and Janus have all had similar issues through their lifetime. They have struggled consistently across all levels of play with only situational SPL success and we are looking at issues in their kit that prevent them from being more successful than the bottom of the god pool. Ullr often has the lowest damage stat of all hunters, suffers from Mana issues, and has a few animation/ability issues that we are looking to fix. Bladed Arrow and Thrown Axe are seeing scaling increases to help him keep the pressure on as games move into the late game. Thrown Axe will now also leave Ullr's hand quicker, better matching the current animation. Expose Weakness/Invigorate and Hail of Arrows/Glory Bound are seeing Mana cost reductions, helping Ullr have access to his utility skills more often. Hail of Arrows and Glory Bound are also seeing a few FX and bug fixes. Hail of Arrows' target has improved clarity on both where it is in the world and if a target will be hit by the ability. Wield Axe/Wield Bow is also seeing a decrease to it's cast time, making it match other stance switchers who need to respond to situations quickly like Hel.

  • Glory Bound – Decreased Mana cost from 70/75/80/85/90 to 60 at all ranks.

  • Bladed Arrow and Thrown Axe are seeing a large Mana reduction that should open up Ullr's build options a bit more (as well as being able to spend Mana on his other skills). Additionally, his main stim will now be better at early ranks, allowing Ullr more raw potency until the very late stages of the game.

  • Ullr's Bladed Arrow is his most reliable form of early game poke and clear, but was often not impactful enough on it's own. With this update, players will have more of an option to play safe against unfavorable matchups with Bladed Arrow or look to exert more pressure in favorable positions.

  • We have a bit of a give and take on Ullr this patch; allowing his stims to persist between stance changes, but increasing the cooldown on them. Overall this is a change we think will improve the enjoyment of playing Ullr at all skill levels, expanding options, and addressing feedback over the confusion of Expose Weakness (Invigorate). In addition we've reduced the mana cost on Bladed Arrow and Thrown Axe, giving the grizzly Hunter some much needed love!
