Sobek's basic attacks that hit an enemy grant him +10 physical and magical protection for 4 seconds (max 3 stacks).
Charge Prey
Sobek charges forward at a frenzied pace. If Sobek hits an enemy god in his path, he stuns them doing 70/110/150/190/230 (+50% of your magical power) magical damage and throwing the god behind Sobek. Cost - 70/80/90/100/110 mana. Cooldown - 15s.
Tail Whip
Sobek whips around in a circle, knocking enemies back and doing 90/140/190/240/290 (+70% of your magical power) magical damage. Cost - 70/80/90/100/110 mana. Cooldown - 12s.
Sickening Strike
Sobek does an axe attack that damages all enemies in front of him for 60/120/180/240/280 (+30% of your magical power) magical damage and lowers their healing received by 50% for 4 seconds. In addition, Sobek heals 20/30/40/50/60 (+10% of your magical power) for each enemy hit. Cost - 70/80/90/100/110 mana. Cooldown - 13s.
Lurking in the Waters
Sobek submerges himself into a pool of water for 4 seconds. While Sobek remains underwater, he takes 75% damage, regens mana and is immune to crowd control. Enemies within the pool are slowed. When Sobek emerges, he damages all enemies in the radius for 350/500/650/800/950 (+100% of your magical power) magical damage. Canceling the ability early results in decreased damage.
The Nile Crocodile has been turning gods of all types into unsuspecting prey. Sobek has risen in the ranks of the duo lane, resulting in him being one of the most contested supports in SPL and Ranked. Sobek brings strong CC and control with his signature pluck, but he can also threaten to solo kill squishies with his damage. We are bringing down the damage on his ult to prevent Sobek from taking such favorable trades against enemy backliners.
Lurking in the Waters
Decreased Base Damage from 350/500/650/800/950 to 300/450/600/750/900
Another elusive reptile is being nerfed today. Sobek, like Jorm, has been dominant in the solo lane, and we aim to apply nerfs for similar reasons. One experience that every Sobek opponent is sure to feel is the God of the Nile making a narrow escape. Sobek seems to survive through the most dangerous of fights. We are decreasing the bonus protections he gains during his Ultimate to ensure he is punished accordingly for diving too deep or missing too many plucks.
Sobek has risen from the Nile after his boost in HP scaling and self healing. This additional capability to stay out for longer allows him to fulfill the support role in poke and roaming situations much more effectively. His raw ability to survive engagements however has become too potent due to the combination of this extra HP, healing, and passive protection. A reduction to his passive will make him more vulnerable in direct fights while still keeping the more active sustain he brings himself.
Blessing of the Nile
Changed to per-level scaling from 10 per stack to 4+0.3 per lvl.
Sobek previously bullied the solo lane with Guardian’s Blessing, making it difficult to truly buff him as a support. Now that Guardian’s Blessing has protections against use in the Solo lane we are bringing strength back to this God of the Nile.
Base Stats
Increased HP per level from 86 to 95
Sickening Strike
Increased Healing per hit from 20/30/40/50/60 to 30/40/50/60/70
Sobek has been carefully lurking in the waters, waiting for his time to strike. After he put up an impressive record in the pro league last year he was nerfed, primarily due to pro frustration. We are happy to finally buff the ol' croc, ideally in a way that pushes him more toward support. We also feel that this is safe now that solo lane has become more aggressive and Warriors have more stable footing, if he does end up back in Solo.
Charge Prey
Decreased Cooldown from 15 to 13s.
Sickening Strike
Increased Damage from 60/100/140/180/220 to 80/115/150/185/220.
Sobek was a powerful threat in the solo lane during Season 5, really starting the trend of Guardians flexing to that role and stifling picks. With the adjustments to the solo lane we feel comfortable bringing power back to Sobek but feel reverting the cooldown on Tail Whip would result in the same result, stifling diversity. We instead are focusing on increasing his base tankiness, allowing him to be more successful and charging into the enemy team and heavily disrupting opponents.
Sobek is a powerful force in the Solo lane, and more specifically serves as an ever present counterpick that really stifles potential god diversity in that lane. While some gods should have inherent advantages against others, his were too one sided. We are increasing the cooldown on his main interrupt, Tail Whip. Players facing him will be able to trade better with him and have larger windows to use their channeled abilities.
Sobek no longer goes untargetable while plucking an enemy. He instead gains player passthrough, which will allow him to be hit by enemies while he is getting ready to throw someone.
Sobek has been a pretty solid pick for some time, but when reviewing his Mana costs, we found the cost for Tail Whip to be a bit too steep. Sobek can use this ability more freely without relying as much on his Ultimate regen to keep him in a fight.
Tail Whip
Decrease mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 to 60/65/70/75/80.
Blessing of the Nile is getting a nice quality of life adjustment.
Previously, Blessing of the Nile would fall off while in the full duration of Sobek's Ultimate, which felt awkward. Now, Blessing of the Nile lasts for 6 seconds, allowing more time for Sobek to land a new Ability or fully charge his Ultimate on a target.
Blessing of the Nile
Increase Duration of the Protection Buff from 3s -> 6s.
After looking at Sobek's performance and his limiting factors, we chose to lower the Mana costs on his abilities as well as give his Ultimate more utility. Lowering his Mana costs means he should be able to protect his teammates and catch enemies much more often. Increasing the utility on his Ultimate means he has better engage potential with this ability, while also allowing this Ultimate to act as a much stronger deterrent for chasing enemies.
Charge Prey
Reduced Mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 -> 70/75/80/85/90.
Sickening Strike
Reduced Mana cost from 70/80/90/110/110 -> 60/65/70/75/80.
Lurking in the Waters
Sobek now increases his Protections by 30% while submerged.
Slow increased from 15/20/25/30/35% -> 20/25/30/35/40%.
This ability now builds stacks on successful hits from basic attacks and abilities. Abilities will only grant one stack even if multiple targets are hit.
Fixed an issue with Sobek passive meter not updating correctly when he had multiple effects.
