  • Flicker

  • Elemental Mastery

  • Merlin taps into his inner potential, exploding with energy in the stance he is currently attuned to. During this time Merlin can choose which stance to enter into next. After the explosion reaches its apex, it collapses in on itself.   • The Master Wizard continues to dominate ranked and pro play, especially in pick rate. Merlin outputs a large amount of damage in the late game, especially to CC'd targets or jungle bosses. Merlin's abilities have a high amount of ticks, which multiplies the magical power scaling to very high levels.   • Merlin’s mastery over magic has been felt by many a player, giving validity to his claim of being a Master Wizard. His fire stance in particular can melt enemies who are caught out. A reduction to Dragonfire and his Elemental Mastery’s scaling will decrease the situations he can destroy an enemy with little chance to fight back.

  • Merlin has been a potent pick at all levels of play, boasting a high pick and ban rate along with a solid win rate. While we have adjusted him a few times since his launch, we have not solved the core frustrations players have had when facing him. To address this, we are focusing on his overall damage as well has how easy it is to access his damage. Eclipse's damage is seeing a scaling hit, reducing the damage on his largest zone control ability. Blizzard will now deploy more slowly, giving players more time to react and avoid the incoming ice shards. Finally, Elemental Mastery is seeing a cooldown increase, lowering his ability to stance switch and access a new round of ability and opening a larger window to punish an untimely stance swap.

  • This legendary wizard has been dominating the mage meta. Now that we have a significant amount of data and feedback about Merlin's current state, more serious changes can be applied. With both extremely high ban rate and win rate, a nerf in this patch was necessary. He is losing damage in two of his key DPS abilities, which will cause a big impact on his poke and gank potential. Dragonfire is also being limited to only debuff enemy gods. This change might seem minor but Merlin's ability to shred jungle bosses was a huge factor in his SPL performance.

  • Decrease Base Damage from 60/100/140/180/220 to 60/95/130/165/200.

  • The Protection Reduction on this ability now only applies to enemy gods, and will not affect minions.

  • Merlin was not to be outdone by King Arthur. Players have had a large amount of success with Merlin, utilizing his stance switching capabilities to cycle between poking out opponents or burning them down. We are making some targeted adjustments to some of his abilities, lowering damage or interactions that boosted damage above expectation. Additionally, Flicker is seeing an overall nerf; giving players more opportunity to punish an out of position Merlin.
